I have discovered tonight that at least three phone numbers are missing from my contact list. As I look for someone, I'll know if I'm missing more. I have no idea where they are. Pretty sure that were stored on the phone rather than the sim card. I have chosen 'display all' in my contacts list to find it makes no difference.

I haven't dropped the phone there is no damage to it. I have noticed that over the past couple of months it has been randomly restarting itself, which appears to be a common concern and I've also noticed that it is frequently showing me that I'm connected to my home internet via Wifi - the the small noification window the appears. I have to wait for it to disappear before I can use the 'buttons' under it.

However these are side issues.........I'm baffled that I have 'lost' at least 3 phone numbers. I see no point trying to sync with my google account as they weren't email contacts. Just phone numbers.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have taken the battery out and blown at the sim card and terminals, rebooted and still the same.
I only got it in September but reluctant to give it into to t-molbile .... but if I have to I will.

Hello and welcome, Suzy.

It looks like you're gradually losing control of the device due to lack of maintenance, would be my first concern.

First of all, what launcher are you using? Some 3rd party launchers have deep menus that need to be looked at closely and configured carefully.

I'm also thinking that a sim card and battery pull, along with cache clearing will help a lot. Also clear data on those widgets and apps in Application Manager that you don't mind reconfiguring.

The full cache partition wipe can help. That is done from the recovery menu (Hold Volume Up, Home, & the Power button, continue to hold all three until the screen flashes, then release all buttons) <---- for future reference, that is from All Android Recovery Combo Keys: Samsung Devices which covers all Samsung device recovery button combinations ;)

Hi Frisco
Thank you for the advice. When you say launcher..I'm not sure what you are referring to. It is running on android version 4.0.3 - is that what you mean?

I have deleted a few apps that didnt get used. I have moved all my apps to the sd card (don't know if that will help) and cleared the cache in all of them.

I've also copied any contacts that aren't already, on to the sim card. I've restarted it too.
Am I missing anything? Should I do anything else to help?
Many Thanks

I believe Frisco was referring to the a 3rd party launcher apps like GO Launcher or Nova Launcher (these are apps that change the way your screens, icons etc look).

I had the issue of duplicate contacts kept appearing, the fix being getting the latest version of KIES for your pc/laptop/mac and then managing (adding/deleting) contacts until I had what I wanted then create a back up file of that so you have a "base" contact file. [[after creating my "base" contact back up file and saving it, i synced the contacts to my phone. disconnected from my laptop. then deleted all my contacts from my sim card, phone and accounts, so that i could reconnect to laptop with KIES and import my "base" contact backup file.]]

If some contacts aren't showing up you can click on Contacts then hit your "menu" button then select Contacts to Display where you can choose just sim contacts, just fb contacts, just contacts that are saved to the actual phone (diff. than sim) or customize which ones to see. IF you choose Settings instead of the Contacts to Display you can check a box that says "Show only contacts with phone numbers" that may show/hide certain contacts too. Hope this helps!! :D

I agree with the guys above - just wanted to add a small advice - in order for all contacts to always be there - make sure that you save them to the cloud in the case of Android the default cloud is your google account. Phones do weird things and just like computers crash and need to be restored to original - than you lose all data. So be proactive about backing things up including those contacts!!!!

I have contacts missing as well, but all my contacts are saved to Gmail. I can add a contact via the Contacts icon, through the phone log or via a received text message, but after a few minutes or hours the new contact disappears. This is the most bizarre things I've ever seen and after chatting with Samsung, they have no clue.
