Help S7 Edge no sound notification text, email etc....

Thank you for replying Justafew :cashdroid: I had the volume on my phone set to the highest setting already including notifications, ringtone etc but still couldn't understand why there was no sound.

I have however just managed to solve it!

I went into Settings - Applications - Applications Manager and scrolled down to Messages. On clicking I found that notification was blocked! This must be the default setting so I changed it to allow and all is well with the world once again.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply :cashdroid:
This was so helpful, I just got my phone 2 weeks ago and was wondering why I could not get notifications for text messaging...I did exactly what you said and problem fixed! Thanks :)

I upgraded from the Samsung S5 to S7 about a month ago. Great phone but.....I can only add one notification sound to a contact. Contacts now cover your phone address book, your e-mails address book and whatsapp address book. So when I set the notification sound it's the same for all three. Not liking this one bit.. Have I done something wrong? Am I missing something? Or has Samsung moved the damn goalposts again.....Anybody...????

I'm having sound issues too and can't figure it out. All of a sudden yesterday while playing Pandora the sound stopped working. It doesn't work for my alarm clock because I overslept today cuz the sound didn't work. It doesn't play for text alerts or email alerts or anything. I've checked the sound levelsand everthing is turned up and everything is on everything is enabled can't figure out why my sound is not working. Any help? I hadn't installed anything new on my phone to have the sound all the sudden stopped working

Hi everyone

I've had the above phone for 2 days now and I love it, it's probably the best phone I have ever had. The only problem I have is I'm missing text messages, email notification etc as the phone isn't making a sound when they come through. I have the volume up high and have made sure that I have selected a sound which will be quite loud. I have no problems with receiving phone calls as the ringtone plays.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? If so, did you find a fix for it?

Many thanks in advance.

This happened with my Note 7. It drove me crazy looking for answers for weeks. Then I found this fix. Basic settings will not help. So here is how you fix it. Tap settings icon, scroll over to device, choose applications, DO NOT CHOOSE THE MESSAGES ICON YET... choose applications manager, scroll down to messages, select notifications. Most likely you'll find they're blocked. Turn on allow notifications, set as priority, and any other features you want on. Hopefully this will fix it.

Hey guys, have the same issue since I upgraded to Android 7. Happens for most of the notifications (sometimes even the alarm in the morning). Also media apps, such as Amazon music, Youtube, even visual voicemail stop working as well.

I found out that if I use the "Device maintenance" and optimize, it will solve the issue. But only temporarily. It comes back, sometimes in days, sometimes in matter of hours.

What optimizing does is mostly a) stopping few apps in background 2) freeing up storage space (probably app cache? )

Can anyone suggest how to view apps running in background + how to clear cache for all the apps without restarting the phone?

Thanks!

Hi guys; same problem here since I updated to Nougat; everything was working fine with Marshmallow; anyone has a solution for this? optimizing the system works just temporarily; it seems that clearing the cache for messages in the system->applications does the trick too, but I don't know if it lasts; did the factory reset too, still, notifications turn off after awhile; also, when I go to sounds->notification sounds, if I try to select another sound, it's just silent; it's very annoying, so be careful if you want to upgrade to the newest version of android; cheers!

Forgive me if this sounds rudimentary...Hit your volume button up or down and you will see the ringtone volume. When that pops up, there is a down arrow on the left-hand side... Hope this helps.
It's like I have been struggling with this for two days, finally got around to googling it, and now I feel like an idiot. Really tho, Justafew, I know it's been a while but thanks so much for pointing out the obvious to this oblivious person. I am shamed and relinquish my geek card. Seriously, thanks. Sometimes one can't see the forest yada-yada and sometimes one needs the answer spelled out in big bold letters before they get it. Now, where do I go to hide?
