10 interesting Android facts you probably didn’t know about

I still am amazed that WebOS failed. If I remember correctly, Palm just decided to nix it? I still think the way WebOS handled multiple app switching is better (horizontally).

The problem that webOS had, wasn't to do with webOS at all.

Palm desperately needed an operating system update... And so had a project for a new one... It ran overdue, they couldn't get it to work... They cancelled it, some users jumped ship.

Then they really really needed a news operating system... It ran overdue, had problems with third party IP, they couldn't get it to work... Even more remaining users (including me) jumped ship.

Then they incredibly really really needed an operating system... They wrote webOS, most users had gone... They ran out of money, they gave up and sold it to someone to power their smart tvs...

I didn't know 8 9 and 10...

The fact that webOS was a threat to Android is bunkum.... It was the last throw of the dice from a once great company. The reason for those strange deals for the pre... Was they were so desperate for cash to keep the lights on.

They just didn't have the strength to go three rounds with android... Let alone challenge them at that time.

WebOS was way better than Androids first iteration. The problem was that by the time the Palm Pre launched it didn't have amazingly competitive specs and there wasn't enough money to throw into manufacturing of new handsets at a high volume.

Many many companies missed out on buying WebOS... probably Microsoft and Nokia stood the most to gain. Truly a waste if a fantastic operating system and to this day the form factor of the Palm Pre I still find gorgeous and unique.
