Random sounds, have I been hacked?

Regarding the 'Numbers Station' Gong/chimes: I believe that numbers stations are generally used by various countrie's 'security/Intelligence (i.e.spy) services to send coded messages to their agents.
I got this of a TV Documentary, so can't vouch for the accuracy.
However, Wikipedia says at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_station :

A numbers station is a shortwave radio station characterized by broadcasts of formatted numbers, which are believed to be addressed to intelligence officers operating in foreign countries.[1] Most identified stations use speech synthesis to vocalize numbers, although digital modes such as phase-shift keying and frequency-shift keying, as well as Morse code transmissions, are not uncommon. Most stations have set time schedules, or schedule patterns; however, other stations appear to broadcast at random times. Stations may or may not have set frequencies in the HF band.[2]

Thanks for the help so far - it's not happened again in a week now...

If it does, then I'll look at the logging of connections.

Summary:

It happened in 'safe mode' - so NOT a user installed app?

Only happens with a data connection open (wifi/network).

I can be in any location (not just at home).

I don't read email on my phone, and web browse almost nothing.

Thanks.

Yeah that is some interesting information. I thought there might be some alterior motives for them. Hell you never know anymore these days.

That's good. I have a weird issue on an XT907 Motorola that plays the original old school moto chirp (from flip phone days) when connecting to calls. Very weird. I wiped the phone completely and put stock firmware on it as well. Oh well. Phone works fine. About to upgrade the client to a newer phone then when i get time get to the bottom of it.

OMG! I am so happy that I found this thread! I have been having the same issue. The Universal Studios Theme music randomly play on my phone over the summer. (Then it stopped.) Also at least 3 times I heard a conversation in Russian over this summer. And TODAY my phone started randomly playing music. This time it was Ed Sheeran's "Make it Rain". It was at 6am and woke me up. I do not have this song stored on my phone. No apps were open...

I reset the phone to factory settings with all data wiped out but it still came back. Anyone found a solution yet?
