Who's in?

I've pretty much only done mobile games in the past few years. I miss playing "real" games but haven't wanted the hassle of building/maintaining/upgrading a gaming PC or staying up-to-date with the latest console in order to play the titles I want.

Stadia eliminates that infrastructure hurdle, and should make console-quality gaming as convenient and portable as mobile gaming. During the Project Stream test last year I was really impressed with being able to play a triple-A game on my Pixelbook - without having to be tethered to the wall for power.

Can't wait.

The free tier will be available sometime next year, but for now, yeah, you'll need to purchase a bundle and/or pro subscription.
i think with the bundle you also get 3 months free of the pro subscription.

i just bought the bundle......i wish we could choose the color of the controller. that wasabi color looks cool.

Yep, 3 months of Pro are included with the bundles.

Agreed on the wasabi color, I'd love to have that. It looks super sharp.

By the way, I've now spent about three hours playing with Stadia and I'm impressed. Both Destiny and GRID play very well on my Pixelbook (using a wired Xbox 360 controller until the hardware portion of my bundle shows up tomorrow). I also tested moving the game to my phone and it worked beautifully for a lap around Brands Hatch.

I know this launch got off to a rocky start but I'm really quite happy now.

Too rich for me, also thinking about it, I'm not sure how well Stadia would work through a VPN.
Poorly. You're streaming high-resolution video without the option for buffering since it's all got to be real-time. You need a fast connection with very low latency for it to work.

You can try the connection test though:

Make sure the OS is updated. Otherwise that's pretty much it. Just point your browser to stadia.com, plug up a compatible controller (or use keyboard and mouse), and game on.

So much better than a gaming laptop - it'll last an easy 6 hours on battery even while gaming. ;)
