Hi end phones with bodies wider tham 73.4 mm?

Hi. I've been a samsung fan for a long time, but a major deal breaker for me, is that (As with a lot of phones) to them, "bigger "screens only really mean taller screens.
This has always been counterintuitive to me at least, sent western type reads horizontally, and not vertically.
Any suggestions on a high end phone with a wider screen, say maybe 3 and a half inches or so?

How high end do you want to go? Note 20 Ultra is 77mm wide. If you don't want to pay that price the S20 FE 5G is 74.5mm, or the OnePlus 8T is about 74mm.

GSMArena's "phone finder" let's you specify a minimum width as part of your search.

As long as it's not smaller than my LG V30 which is 7.3 mm wide, than I am golden.
Just checked, and your suggestions are (As usual) 100% spot-on.

Thanks! I think I was just spooked because some of the earlier Galaxys felt thin in my hand and it didn't feel right.
What's your daily driver phone these days?

I'm still running a Pixel 2. I'm the opposite, I won't consider a phone that's > 70mm wide and prefer smaller (for me a phone is primarily about portability and use on the go, which means one-handed use matters far more to me than screen area). For me right now the best-sized phone on the market is the iPhone 12 Mini (64mm wide and about 130mm tall), though the obvious problem there is iOS.
I'm hoping that some Android manufacturers will decide to follow that before I next feel I have to upgrade.

my note 10+ is 77.2 mm wide which is the same for the note 20 ultra.....so i'm not sure where you are getting that they are getting thinner in width. the z fold 3, when it comes out will be thinner when its all folded up, but super wide when in tablet mode.....there are rumors that the note series will be discontinued and become the z fold 3.

That's a bugbear of mine at this moment. I have two new (excellent otherwise) Xiaomi phone models as well as a 2018 model year Nokia, and a Moto E6.

The Poco F2 Pro has a 6.67" Amoled screen, the Mi 10 Lite a 6.57" screen which I've had a little longer.

My Nokia 7 Plus has a 6.0" screen and I can read more words in a line. It seems as wide if not wider than both Xiaomi's.

Today I used one as my full time daily. I can't get emails to appear or configure properly on 3 different apps and have to zoom and scroll left to right to finish a sentence.

I will learn to fix it to be easier to read, or adapt, but tall screens are pointless. You're not going to get a full cinematic experience on a phone, those rare times you can play a 20:9 (or 21:9) video. Probably provides slightly better touch controller real estate in games, but seriously?

The Xiaomi' are 20:9. The Nokia is 18:9.
You want to avoid high aspect ratios, Avoid 21:9 (Sony's and some others I think) though we might have to adapt until the fad fades.

It's not the girth, it's the size ratio (".... as the bishop probably said to the ...") :rolleyes:

Yes, the different aspect ratios mean that you can't just use the diagonal as a way of comparing screen sizes these days.

There was a guy over in an Apple forum the other week who seemed incapable of understanding that the iPhone 12 Mini (5. 4" diagonal) had a smaller screen than the iPhone 8 Plus (5. 5" 16:9), even though the 8 Plus was 14mm wider. Manufacturers (or their marketing departments) seem to encourage this confusion too (though I guess that's what marketing is about...).
