Help Dead phone after system update

During installation of a system update on my Galaxy S7, the screen started alternating between a blue screen with the android logo and a black screen with several error messages. The error messages is shown very briefly but one of them are: "fail to open recovery_cause (no such file or directory)". This went on and on and on ....
After searching a bit on internet, I tried to enter Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Home and Power). This removed the alternating screens but now the phone is totaly dead.
I've tried numerous key combinations without any responce. I've charged the phone. I have also connected the phone to my PC with an USB-cable. No response. I have removed the SIM and memory card and reinstalled them again. I am not able to get any response at all from my phone. Any suggestions?

sounds like a dead phone. your phone is way past its prime. not really surprised this happens.

if you could get to download mode, you might be able to flash a firmware update provided you have usb debugging turned on before the phone went dead. if you can't get to download mode or recovery mode, then you are pretty much SOL......sorry

How were you updating a s7? It will be years since the last update for that model was released.

This isn't idle curiosity: knowing exactly what you were doing may help understand the current situation.

But really if it is simply unresponsive then there's nothing you can do yourself: at best it will need specialist equipment to fix it.

I also believed there would be no more updates but a couple of days ago there was a message that a new system update were available and I could choose to install immediately, during night at 02:00 or reject (as far as I could tell, it looked just like the previous update messages I've received).

I chose to update during night at 02:00. The next morning the uppdate had not been installed so I then chose to start the update manually. After that, the problems occured as described.
