Android 2.1 update for AT&T’s Motorola Backflip begins Unwired View
Sadly it looks like today will NOT be the day.
"This page is currently inactive as prelaunch testing of the software is underway.
The page will be reactivated when the testing period is complete."
Its up now!
Let me know if this update brings pinch-to-zoom and/or Flash Lite support? I'm considering getting a Backflip but I was holding out until the 2.1 update.
The Android 2.1 upgrade for the Backflip is live.
More info on what to expect.
Pinch to zoom
Install apps to SD (not officially supported in Android 2.1)
Adobe Flash or Flash Lite (the Backflip does not meet the system requirements for these)
The Backflip is more than capable of handling Flash Lite. And the Preclair ROM allows for live wallpapers, so why not in official update?
You would have to ask the Moto dev people for the details behind the lack of live wallpapers. The reason seems to be to prevent a performance hit for what is a cosmetic feature.
I may be mistaken about the requirements for Flash Lite, but it's not in the official release.
At this rate, sticking with the Preclair ROM seems better than the official 2.1 release. I could probably install Flash Lite myself since the ROM allows access to unsigned apps.
