Amazon Fire Tablet being stubborn!

I'm trying to root my Amazon Fire Tablet via Kingroot on both PC and direct from the tablet. It gets to 77% and then the root fails. Any idea why?

Tab is running 5.1.1 (I think) and obviously has USB debugging and the other developer setting active (I can't remember what its called!).

I don't think there is a root method for the newest Fire OS.

I'll wait until the root utility catch up. In the interim, it's there any way to force Google Play/Chrome to download directly onto the SD card rather than moving stuff across manually?
