Android Forums has gotten some huge Google Dings over the past year and I think that's largely due to the fact that AF and Phandroid are on separate domains. While Phan has started to grow after pushing G+ much harder, we've seen AF continue to slowly decline in traffic.
Why? One reason could be that Google devalued the cross-site links between these two properties with their web algo updates. But another MAJOR factor could be that AF doesn't have ANY social media momentum. Phandroid is the face on the social media front. So while other blog/forum combos are enjoying the tide lifting both of their blog and forum oceans, AF got stuck in the social media harbor.
We can safely assume that social media will play a larger role in web success moving forward, due largely to the emergence of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and of course Google+. But it's the latter that matters most, because Google controls organic search as well. And for a topic as Googley as Android, giving AF the support it deserves on Google+ should become one of our top priorities.
Adapt or die. We may have missed the early signals and strategies here but we're about to get back ahead of the curve!
Give us some love and circle up +Android Forums !!!
