Root [Boost Mobile] how do you removing two files in throttle folder with root explore

Newbie
it looks like boost has started to throttle their service because my download speed will not go past 256kbps. i have been reading how to remove these two files but it is not working. any suggestions? I'm rooted with bo8c.
 
Post a link to what you are referring to, I haven't seen a throttle folder nor any mention of that, network services I would believe, would be on their side
 
Well I couldn't believe it, but it's there, never been throttled. And I'm atleast 2-4gb a month, deleted them anyways
 
I found those files back in march when I first got my warp... I searched to see if boost throttled or not and didn't find any evidence stating that they did so I just ignored them... it doesn't matter if your throttled or not because they were there from the beginning for me... and plus I don't think that is their only way of throttling us because of how easily we can delete the files... they aren't that dumb... :-\

I'd assume it's on the software side. How would they collect info when my data isn't going through the sprintpcs proxy, and using a different prl? I'd assume those files are there to monitor and control data usage. Mind you, this is pure speculation, and if someone gets time, they should look into it.
Side note, I don't remember seeing those files in cm7, not that it matters, but maybe those are carrier specific and not part of the system, being that they are on the data partition.
 
I still can't delete these files. I know I'm being throttle because I use a lot of data. I follow the steps as stated but when I try to delete the files, it says toolbox! What does that mean?
 
I have noticed on the Boost Mobile site, we're now "limited" to 2.5 GB per month. Bogus, because they never told me about it...they should have to tell every customer if they're going to go into a "Throttle Mode" and limit their customers without it being in their plan. Regardless of being no-contract they should still have to let current customers know.
 
It's still unlimited data, throttling doesn't change that. I honestly think it's on the phone side, so this little fix should work

I'll have to give it a try and see if it works, Waiting for a new SD Card anyways...should be here tomorrow or friday.
 
I was able to delete the two files in the folder. It seems to make no difference because my data speeds are still the same. My conclusion is that this does not work to stop data throttling. There is another method using SQLite editor but I can't see if this method works since my pay cycle just started. I'm getting regular speeds now. Here is the link to the method. The only thing that i see that has to do with throttling is the throttle_reset_day line. I'm wondering what I should change that too.

I've downloaded the file one than once and it keeps coming back remember these people aren't dumb in letting us delete the file and thats it.....just a thought...:rolleyes:
 
You must not be changing the permissions correctly... once you change the permissions you restrict the system from accessing it... however I do agree with you

How is it to be set up to see if I got it right on my phone....
 
After you delete the files change the permissions of the throttle folder to this:

Hey there! Welcome to Android Forums :D

In short, no. Nothing will fully stop throttling since it's handled on the side of Boost's servers as opposed to our phones. The benefit of performing this procedure, however, is to remove yet another process which constantly runs in the background taking up precious CPU cycles which could otherwise be put to much better use.
