delete gallery pictures all of them

I want to free up some space, how can i delete entire folders, like all the pictures. I see there are 360 pictures on the phone. All the pictures are backed up on google photos. I also want to deleted all the videos.

Also the gallery app is pathetically slow compared to google photos. I can not imagine doing them one at a time.
Is it going to continually fill up with pictures?

Go into your Google Photos app, click on settings, then choose the "Free up Device Storage" option.

As long as that wont delete them off google photos, will try it.

I did this, and it freed up 10mb of space. Then I went into Gallery app and all the pics are still there.
Gallery works like crap, very slow, in fact I can not even navigate the screen up and down, it just opens pics.

I did this also to my wife's phone, and it was able to free up 4.22gb of space. The phone was completely out of space and could not update anything, now everything is updated.
My question is, if she was sending mms messages back and forth to people, are the pictures all gone now out of the messages, which we would not like.

All the messages with pics are still there, viewable. So is ok.
