If you're fed up of waiting you can always apply the update yourself. Did mine last night and it has seriously helped increase the headphone volume output on my TMobile Desire. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has debranded or rooted etc but for the rest....
It does wipe all settings and data (as a factory reset would but including wiping the sd card I think) so a backup is a good idea. I backed everything I needed up then put a blank SD card in the phone for the update (or you could just make a copy of your SD card and copy it back across when the update has finished I suppose, you'd probably want to do this before gong through the intial settings screens as it asks you very early on if you want to restore).
Then just download the correct one for your provider, run, connect phone, follow on screen prompts. Easy as that.

Obviously you do this at your own risk, I will not hold any responsibility for cock ups but it really is a straight forward process so I can't see as there's much to go wrong.
