I'm about 2 months away from my upgrade. I really want to get a Droid Turbo 2, but I really don't see much of a difference between the Turbo and Turbo 2. Can someone help me out?

  2. Welcome to Android Forums.

    Take a look at ... http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=7713&idPhone2=6727 ... for a sider-by-side comparison.

Differences Turbo 2 vs. Turbo ...
    • Slightly larger screen.
    • Shatterproof screen guaranteed for 4 years.
    • Front mounted speaker instead of rear mounted. A big difference if sitting on a table.
    • Wipe Cache Partition takes 1 sec vs. 10 min.
    • External SD card (up to 128GB).
    • Customize case with Moto Maker.
    • 8 cores vs. 4 cores. = faster

Ah! I knew about the screen size and shatter proofness, but not the cores. I know it has the newest snapdragon, but I didn't know it was that big of a deal.

I was just really worried about getting ripped off, since I saw the battery was actually smaller and battery life is really important to me. I'm guessing only the Turbo 2 will get 6.0, which I'm really looking forward to!

FWIW: I have the Turbo 2, and had the Turbo1 before. The battery is a bit smaller in the T2, and after having the phone since release morning, I must honestly admit that it does not last as long as the T1. It still gets me through the day, but the T1 battery did last longer. The link that Thom posted from gsmarena shows at the bottom that the T2 has stereo speakers. This is definitely not the case. While the screen display on the T2 is very nice, I don't believe that it is as nice as the T1 was. The slightly larger screen of the T2 is not used fully with every application. The T2 is definitely a fast, smooth phone and the wifi is very strong and consistent vs the T1. No buyers remorse. I'm always game to try new devices and have been getting along very well with the T2.

  5. Thank you for reporting that. I reported it to GSM over a month ago and they have not yet made the correction.

Thanks alot for your help. It's just hard dropping 500 on new phone when the old is similar.

They still have a deal to trade in an old smartphone, even if the screen is cracked, for $200 off a Turbo 2.

  9. I think you will be sorry if you go with the Turbo. The Turbo 2 is a significant improvement. (I have the Turbo 64GB and Turbo 2 64GB with 128GB SD.)

I'm not due for an upgrade til March. I'll gladly take that if it's still around. My S5 is only worth about 150.

I just got the Droid Turbo 2, then stumbled on this site. I didn't have the Turbo to compare to (going from the Razr HD), but I will say I am loving the phone. I did get $200 off, and wife got the Maxx 2 and got the same by trading in a $20 prepaid phone thing (we never even opened the box). $534 might be a bit high for the phone ($634 - $100 current sale price) but $334 is IMO a hard price to beat for the specs you are getting.

Wait as long as you can stand it. There will be a price drop on the Turbo 2, it's just a matter of time.

  13. Maybe.

The Turbo used to seem pretty fast to me. After using the Turbo 2 for a few months the Turbo seems to tale FOREVER to boot up.

And the one that really gets me ... Wipe Cache Partition is almost instantaneous.

Definitely. It dropped a couple hundred since October, I'm sure it'll drop more by March.
