I believe the reason for this is the cache being filled up with places you've been.

I haven't installed the newest update. Still at 5.8.0. App itself is 10.42M. Seems like it stayed about same size, for this update anyway.

Do any of you how it now compares to versions a month or 2 ago. For some reason when i first got an android phone about 2 months ago, i'm sure the size of the app was much smaller.

Can't really say. All I know is it gets better with every update. I am currently at around 11.2 MB. No big deal though since I've got a tone of space on my phone anyway.

If you have space problems you can use Titanium to convert Maps into a user app, then you can move it to sd storage. For this your phone has to be rooted.
