I just installed the handcent sms and trying to figure all the setting required to send AND recieve group text on my samsung galaxy 3 phone. What am I missing?

Unfortunately I cannot help you with Handscent but if you are looking for an app/service to do group messaging I recommend GroupMe from Skype. It has its own app but really only the person setting up the group needs to use to establish the group, after that you can do it all through SMS (and no one else has to set up an account with GroupMe to be part of a group). Another real advantage is you can set it up so you can use it on multiple devices including a PC through a web browser.
