Root Help with Rooting

Hello, ive been trying to root my Huawei Ascend 2 phone for awhile now and I have not been able to figure out what ive dun wrong.

Is it possible that anyone could write me steps from start to finish to root my phone

Note: At this point this is a factory restore and running only standard stuff. Nothing downloaded or installed at this point.

My phone info.
Huawei Ascend 2 (M865C)
Android Version: 2.3.6

OK update: Was able to root now having issues getting a rom to run.
been trying to use CM7.2

Can anyone suggest or help me get a rom to run correctly
