Hi and HELP ME

I have problems with the wifi connection. I download barnacle my computer does not pick anything up and if i use wireless tether for rooted users (muller,lemons,buxton) my computer connects but when ever i try to open any web page it says cannot display and gives an error. Can anyone tell me please what to do please
