How far through the process did you get before you got this message and exactly what does the message say?

Excellent! I'm happy to hear the instructions worked well for you. Re: the SD Card message - Why don't you try what knucklesdamone suggested in one of the above posts: Take out the battery and then remove the SD Card. Reboot your phone w/o the card in it and then re insert the SD card. Try that and see if it clears up your probs. Aside from that how is everything else? :)

4) Open the CWM Recovery folder that you downloaded. Find and Run the fastboot- file according to your OS. Extract all if necessary. One you run it, you should get a black window that disappears immediately. Phone may still be at the Huawei screen. Then Run the install-recovery- file according to your OS.(If there is any command prompt problems or the pc says waiting for device,go into control panel/sys/device manager and find android 1.0 right click and update driver.)

Try this and see if it helps.
 
OMG!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!! I went though all the steps and got to the final screen where the green android says tap here....trying to set it up but it keeps telling me that my phone may no be provisioned for data services.....what do I do?

thats the one im stuck on. it wont update
 
Okay...I have now installed the ICARUS 1.1 by Isaacj87 and can confirm that it works beautifully and is very easy to install if you follow the steps completely.

I did have some help, however! +silverkx2000 did help me to make certain I did it right so that I could help any of you who need help.

I can tell you it's quite a bit faster than stock or rooted and is almost impossible to screw up!

You are almost there! Go to 'settings' 'wireless and networks' 'mobile networks' 'access point names' and then select your carrier. You may have the wrong carrier selected at first and if it doesn't want to change...just keep trying and it will happen.

Try starting all over and be sure you don't miss a step. It should definitely connect. Are you on MetroPCS or Cricket?

Yes, so try as i might, i cannot get CWM 2.xxxxx only 3.xxxxx despite that im following instructions verbatim. has this happened to anyone else and is there a solution?
 
Do you have Cricket or Metro? And are you rooted already? And did you use z4root?
Did you copy the link in the CWM instructions and save it to your computer? Or did you get it somewhere else?

We need to figure out why you are getting the 3.xxxx
 
so try as i might, i can only get CWM 3.xxxxx to install instead of 2.xxxxx. is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution?
 
i have a metro ascend m860, yes i am rooted, permanent root due to z4root, and yes i used the CWM given and still i only get 3.0.0.5 and sorry about the double post, i didnt see the first one show up.

To Be Safe, Format SD Card. You Can Copy Your SD Card Content To Your Computer If You Want Before The Format. Format will erase all SD Card data

FORMAT THE SD CARD:- Press Menu key while in the phone's homescreen and go into SD card & Phone Storage. Unmount SD Card, then Format SD Card
2)Using a computer, Download this file: CWM Recovery.zip.

Did you unmount and then format your SD card first?

3) Connect the phone to the computer via USB and make sure the drivers are installed. Turn the phone off and wait until the battery screen comes out after the Huawei logo then press and hold Volume DOWN, End Key, and Power Button You should see the Huawei logo. Leave the phone like that and move on to the computer.

4) Open the CWM Recovery folder that you downloaded. Find and Run the fastboot- file according to your OS. Extract all if necessary. One you run it, you should get a black window that disappears immediately. Phone may still be at the Huawei screen. Then Run the install-recovery- file according to your OS.(If there is any command prompt problems or the pc says waiting for device,go into control panel/sys/device manager and find android 1.0 right click and update driver.)

You have to make certain you run the correct bat file for your computer OS (not your phone) and after it flashes black on your computer screen then run the recovery for your computer OS (not your phone). This is probably where the problem came into play. Why don't you try it again?

Also...when you plug in your USB did it give you an option to install the drivers? Be sure you install them.

I never tried the first realease, but i got tired of running out of memory. Let's see how this baby works :D
 
This fixed my double text issue, it had me so frustated. Thank you Isaac, we appreciate what you did. So far so good, the speed is amazing :eek:

Did you try doing it again jhed, from the start to see if it will update? I'm on Cricket and I don't think that has anything to do with it. When you plug in your USB does a popup come up with three options? Install drivers, file transfer and manual? You might try turning off your phone and plugging the USB in and then with the phone attached, turn it on. It might recognize the device then. I had NO problems with it. sorry you are having them. Dang!

Thank you so much Jazzi, i have a question though. I know it wash mentioned but how domestic the app2sd work on this. Like in froyo, you have the option to move it to sd. Thanks in advance.

Well hon, unlike in Froyo, the app2sd is there. You don't have to do anything with it is my understanding. But I'll check on that for you and let you know for sure. :)

Alright so I've been playing with Icarus 1.1 for a while now. Things I noticed: mms works perfectly, I'm using go sms. My phone is a lot a lot (and by a lot I mean a lot =P) more responsive. Wifi is working with no problems, 3g working, NO MORE DOUBLE TEXTS, that's a big thumbs up to Icarus. This is all I have to report for now, I'll let you guys knowif I find any issues:cool:
