HTC desire - insurance and unlocking

hi, i'm in the process of buying a black htc desire on orange (off line).

how do i get it unlcoked to work with my o2 sim?

also, anyone know the best place to buy insurance for it? someone that offers a quick replacement of a NEW handset rather than refurbs if anything was to go wrong?
