Root HTC INCREDIBLE wont "wake up" but will power on and off

My droid Incredible will power on (so im guessing it isnt a hardware problem) but it will not put the phone to sleep or wake it up. is there an app that will allow another button to do so or will installing a new ROM such as CM9 help? please help i need my phone working ASAP

Widget locker allows you to assign other buttons to wake the phone:

Your power button also might be dirty, pop the back off and clean it.

You can try installing another rom and see if that helps.

Thanks! i started to figure a few things out. its not dirty i checked that. right now im using a combo of "no lock" and a force sleep widget


what rom would you suggest? id like to do that
