HTC to hold NYC press event on September 20th; new devices in store?

Still hoping HTC does some formal announcement as we were expecting last month prior to hearing Verizon releasing it.

I find that waiting for the news of when it is going to be released is SO MUCH WORSE than waiting for the actual release date once that news has gone public. I hate not knowing!!!!!!! :)

I think what we are starting to see, particularly on high-end and flagship phones, is that everyone is waiting till as late as possible to announce, release their new phones due to all the patent lawsuits. This prevents your competitor (mainly Apple, since they started all this mess), from filing suit and stopping your product from releasing...you're phone is already released and on the market before they can do claim a suit. This is probably also why we see very little leaks. They want leaks, but merely a minimum number of leaks that they can get away with, without the Apple dogs being sicked on you.

Can you explain what issues Apple has taken up? I'm completely out of that loop but would love to know the dirt. Thanks!

Maybe Big Red wants to stagger the release of phones. Or their announcements at least. Moto Droid RAZR then Maybe HTC Vigor and then the Nexas Prime. I guess anyone's guess is entertainable right now though.

This is how it happened when the Thunderbolt came out. It was speculated that it would be released one day but then the iPad 2 was scheduled to come out and it seemed to push back the release date by 2 weeks or so. I'd say that Verizon's best bet is to stagger the release dates based on hardware/software. You don't want to release the best hardware first and have the other phones come out with inferior specs not being bought because everyone's still buying the phone with the better hardware.
