iMX 515 Calendar Contacts Sync

Neither Contacts nor Calendar are available as applications in the launcher and they do not show in Accounts and Sync. Using calendar widget and trying to add event shows "you have no calendars" and most "other" apps that use the calendar show no calendars to use. My Android phone (Vodaphone) works fine. I have tried all the suggestions I can find including adding a second Google mail account, hard reset and even backing up the calendar data from phone and restoring to tablet. It's not the end of the world but, as I said, my phone works exactly as expected as did my HaiPad tablet.
