Although I would HATE to switch from Sprint to Verizon because of the plan pricing, I would do it for THE phone, but I just don't know that this is THE phone. If it was the HTC Dragon and it met the expectations and hype I would probably do it for that phone. Or if it was the LEO with Android, which someone suggested the HTC dragon is, but it's NOT because they look totally different.
I don't care about a keyboard and not sure I want to add to the bulkiness for something I don't care about, and I text a LOT, but still don't see the need for a keyboard. Even with a keyboard I wouldn't open it up for that everytime I text, I want a phone where I can whip out quick one handed texts. And looks wise it's OKAY, but not great. It's definitely not ugly as someone suggested, but I don't know that it quite makes it as being "sexy." The other concern is the interface, we don't know anything about that, and from what we've been seeing it looks rather plain. I've probalby become spoiled with the idea of Sense.
I'm not suggesting this won't be a great phone, but I've been waiting about a year to commit to a touchscreen phone and I've yet to find one that has all the "stuff" I'm looking for. One of the other important things for me is screen size. If the hero had a screen the size of the iphone or sholes I would have been on that already. I've yet to find a phone that I would call the complete package. And my standards aren't that high...just give me Android with sense, or an equally good UI, a sexy look, MINIMUM of 3.5" screen and quality build. I'm really surprised this hasn't been accomplished yet.
I honestly don't think any phone could be an iphone "competitor" unless it matches its screen size. I say competitor because there will NEVER be an iphone killer. Not because it's so great, although it is pretty good, but because of all the mindless lemmings out there who always here iphone iphone iphone so that's what they end up buying. Also, there are too many phones out there now that no ONE phone will even be able to come in sniffing distance of iphone sales. I think it would be a major accomplishment for a phone to even get HALF the number of iphone sales. We can only hope anroid will continue to grow and multiply and at least start chipping away at some of the iphone market share. I don't even think all the android phones combined will catch up to the iphone in terms of sales any time in the foreseeable future. Maybe like five plus years from now - MAYBE - that could happen.
