Today I turned on my phone after charging O/N at 7am. Listened to 4 hrs. worth of mp3s, maybe a half hr. of Pandora and browsed some news for about 20 min at lunch. Left 3G on all day until I though to check battery life at 5pm - 62%.

I have 3G 90% of the time I try to use it. I am in San Diego.

Are you happy w/ performance? What city are you in?

Just trying to get my head around all the complaints. Service is not perfect, put given the price point, it seems to be a tremendous deal.

Prost!

I'm happy. It is what it is. For the price I pay of $40 along with the $150 for the phone I have minimal complaints. The data will eventually straighten out.

I live in SW Missouri. And today 3G has been stable.

I was paying $80+ with company discount for my Iphone 3GS through ATT.

The Optimus has its issues from time to time but its the closest I have come to my Iphone. I actually like the Android platform better. Of course performance wise its lesser than the Iphone but it cost $150 and I don't have a contract :)

I could afford my Iphone but man i just didn't like throwing my money away.

So I'll limp along with VM and their crappy customer service for now.

I'm in central NJ. Service is usually pretty good, although 3g does drop out from time to time. I don't know how you can get such battery life. Mine doesn't even come close. The phone's performance overall is very good for its' price. VM does need to do something about the data drops, though. However, by and large, I must say I am happy with my LG Optimus V

Im not sure either to be honest. Maybe its because I work in Biotech and my lab is wired to the extreme? Not a "connection" specialist by any means and I would think that if I was using WiFi, that might explain it. But I have yet to go through WiFi at work.

I can say for sure I was initially getting piss poor battery life - as in 3 hours from 100% to red bar - 3G on but no streaming/browsing/playback. After 6 recharge cycles or so, battery life is great imo. I can gain 20-30% power after 30 min. being directly plugged into the wall from 40-50%.

But this is my first cellphone of any type, so I have no reference.

I hope this combo is really worth the money. I have already notified Verizon about my ending of service with them which will happen on April 14. That day, I plan on heading over to my local Radioshack and buying the Optimus with the $25/month plan. This will be my first time paying without a contract.

Going on the VM site, my area's data coverage seems strong, so I'll run it through some tests.

How would I go about porting my Verizon phone number to VM? Can Radioshack do it all in one step when I go buy the phone, or do I need to call VM somehow without an activated cell?

You will have to call VM,but just be aware this process coud take 1 to 5 days,as for the phone service, yes i am pleased overall, where the Data has been an issue at times the phone and text has worked flawless, and seeing it is a phone that's what counts.

What's the going price for the phone at Radio Shack? I picked mine up at Best Buy for $129.95 then within 30 days I payed a small one time fee for their Black Tie service which is a full 2 year warranty.

Best Buy can also transfer your number and contacts all together.

I'm very happy with it. I was paying $50/month (with 20% corporate discount) for my dumb-phone with Sprint for a ridiculous number of minutes (I never use more than about 90 minutes a month), 300 texts and unlimited data. I was planning to upgrade to an Evo or HTC Shift, but just couldn't justify spending $80/month for cell phone service. (I often work in areas where I am not allowed to have a cell phone during the work day, so the cost justification is even harder for me.)

I've had pretty good 3G service in Philadelphia/NJ area. With a solid signal, my battery life is usually still at about 70% when I get home from work (unplugged from charger 7AM and return home around 6PM) with generally a few texts and some casual data use during that time. The other day when 3G was out for a while, my battery life suffered drastically... it seems to be constantly trying to download data even when the network is down. I'm going to have to start disabling 3G when I notice the network is down if I don't want the battery to die.

I generally just use the 3G for killing time if I'm waiting around somewhere, so it's not a huge deal to me if it's down every once in a while... I'll just play Angry Birds or Solitaire instead.

This is my first andriod, and I'm happy. I never could afford an android or the data plans, so I can't compare this to anything else. I've had ths phone for 2 days and I've only had one 3g drop, but it was easy to fix. My only complaint so far is gmail. The acc I made to activate the market got disabled and I can't buy apps now.

Radioshack and BB can both do it while on site. I had mine transferred thru VM tech support about 2 weeks ago, I spent 10 minutes on phone with tech guy, and number was ported and I was up and running in an hour. I was also on Verizon.

Oh, and extremely happy with phone and service so far. Absolutely no problems with phone, I'm at around 50-60% battery by 9pm. I've been over most of VA in past weeks and service has been great, with only a few spots where service drops, smaller routes thru VA.

I'm very happy with VM and the Optimus. And I live in a rural area of Maryland (outside Bel Air) with crappy Sprint coverage. :)

I've had only occasional 3G drops, all easily fixed by quick switch to Airplane mode and back. No drops in the last week. Of course I lose it on my country-road commute (I stream music), but comes right back once I get into better coverage.

The Optimus is an incredible bargain and great quality. Even if it wasn't a phone, it's the cheapest, best quality, best-performing palmtop computer that can be had. Can't touch it for less than $400. Makes the iPod look like the ripoff that it is.

I've been with VM for a long time and jumped on this $25/month deal first with the Intercept and then the Optimus V. I'm used to losing 3G as coverage gets spotty when I leave the interstate up in the mountains but other than that it's a simple toggle using QuickSettings to get back up and running when I have data drops in other places. It isn't perfect but it's so much cheaper than any other alternative.

Just called my Radioshack about possibly picking up a phone before my contract ends and he said that it would take more time because I would have to activate it myself. He also said there were 6 models brought to the store a couple days ago and were bought out fast. Luckily there are a few Radioshacks near me and I will try them all on April 14 if need be. Also hoping they will keep the $150 price tag by then, or else I might end up saying something.
