I appreciate the new features and enhanced performance of 2.1, but it is also frustrating that they did not include two important features that were stated to be in the update;
voice-to-text
pinch to zoom in google maps

If we politely bring this to their attention on the Verizon facebook and twitter pages, perhaps we will get an explanation or even some info on their plans to deal with this. Still, we need a number of inquiries sufficient to warrant a response.

Can you add to your poll: Don't have a Facebook or Twitter account and don't use any of the features left out of the OTA? :D

like someone else said before, i use my phone with one hand the majority of the time so pinch to zoom isnt a big deal for me.

voice to text would be pretty cool because they just passed a texting while driving law here.

I think that the Vlingo beta is closed right now but I got in on that and it blows away Google voice to text. So much more accurate (for me anyway).

That's the one app that I am looking forward to being able to use if I end up having to install the OTA.

I am not surprised that some features listed aren't on the 2.1 OTA. Verizon does this all the time, listing items on a phone that aren't for that phone. For example, the sales feature display at the Verizon store I was at said "voice turn by turn" for the navigation. It didn't say "you will have to wait until the next update comes out Q1 of 2010...only 2 months late ;)

Just print off the Verizon flyer with all the features listed, walk into the store, show them the list and how your phone doesn't have the features, and then demand the Incredible!

This is a pointless thread.

You've got what you were given, the 2.1 OS, nothing more was promised.

Even if you whine on their pages nothing will come of it.

Just as well close this one.

I think most of the bugs are do to apps. I also thing that it may have been better to install the leaked v3 because it did more or less wipe the phone. Cleaned it up and started over like new. Almost like reformatting your PC.

Uh... Not promised?

The very first two items on the official PDF on Verizon's site are absent in the update:
- Pinch-to-zoom is now available when using the Gallery and Google Maps.™
- New support for voice-to-text entry.

So how were we given what was promised?

the voice to text is the only thing I would bark up a tree about. But you can just download the apk from the XDA forums... [MOD] HTC_IME (29th April) v25: Custom sounds and much more - xda-developers

it works like a charm. Just make sure you grab the low res version -

I need help, I tried to download this directly to my phone and it opened it keeps opening up in Astro and when I try to activate it in the setting it's not there. Any ideas anyone?

voice to text doesnt bother me, but i can see how some might complain

pinch to zoom IMO is highly overated and more "fluff" then anything else...i mean, c'mon, in fact it is a PITA IMO, you have to use to hand, one to hold the phone and one to use both fingers to zoom....weak.

why do you think "leap" on the homescreen is initiated my pinch OR hitting home button on home screen, cause pinch sucks...although it looks cool.

i would have liked friend stream more then both the other features.

Im sorry you got no friends :(

Ill be your friend!
Way I see it, is if you wanna be my friend, call me or we can hang out in person and talk. Don't poke me on Facebook. I used to have a Facebook, back in '07. When Myspace was still the biggest social networking site. But I preferred the more straight forward and simple layout Myspace had. Not all the crazy apps and games Facebook had.

Not to mention Facebook is now selling all your personal info on the black market! :D

I like pinch to zoom. It feels far more accurate and precise when zooming on web pages and pictures. I won't miss it in Maps however. Generally I use Maps in my car, so the zoom in and out buttons are more convenient for (like you said) using one hand.

I don't need voice to text either. In the VanillaDroid ROM, that was a feature I purposefully disabled, because I preferred having the extra key on the Vanilla keyboard.
