LG VM701 root failed LGesteem doesnt work

I downloaded the LG drivers and the LG esteem root pack. When running the run bat file it says it is waiting on device but 20-30mins later nothing happens. It is supposed to reboot if the root takes? I also downloaded the gingerbreak apk, loaded it onto my phone thru sd card and tried to run it but again nothing happens?? Plz help I think the LG Esteem root file must not be compatible??
