List of Apps Able to Be Transferred to SD Card (for 2.2)

Hey guys, I think it would be cool if we could keep a list going of which apps can be moved to the sd card (with 2.2). I'll start it, and submit apps and I'll keep this updated. Feel free to move to "All things root", but I figured it'd be a better fit here since 2.2 will eventually be released to everyone.

As of right now, I could hardly find any (only one to be exact) but I'll start the list anyways

What if you guys Use terminal emulator and do

pm setInstallLocation 2

that will set everything you install to go to SD card correct?

pm setInstallLocation 0 - Auto
pm setInstallLocation 1 - Internal Memory
pm setInstallLocation 2 - External Memory/SD Card

Some apps should never be transferred to the sdcard. Make sure you have a nandroid backup if you try this. I'm sure you'll run into problems, as I have already.

Please add Shorty's crossword to the list.

I have moved all apps to my SD card except Ones that have widgets, because they tend to disappear after reboots. all others are working fine so far

Ya, I had problems with widget-apps, also GDE or themes, not sure which had the problem. The post I commented on had no disclaimer, just wanted people to be careful installing everything to the sdcard.

To manually move an app to SDCard (from phone):

Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications --> find your app that you want to move and press it --> press the Move to SDCard button. Note: if the button is not press-able, then the app does not support moving Apps2SD at this time natively.

To move the app from the SDCard to the Phone: Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications --> SDCard tab --> find your app --> Press the Move to Phone button.

NOTE: For apps that do not natively support Apps2SD:

Titanium has the ability to move any app to the SDCard (not sure if this is available in both free and Premium versions, as I have the premium version...) - to do so, run Titanium Backup, then press the Backup/Restore tab, then long press the app you want to move, and then press the Move to SD Card button.

You can also use TiBu to move apps back to the Phone in a similar manner, except this time the button is named Move to Internal.

Finally, regarding Apps2SD: If the app you are considering moving to the SDCard uses a widget, and you use said widget on your home screen, then do not move it to the SDCard. This is because Apps2SD breaks widgets (for now):

from App Install Location | Android Developers

App Widgets
Your App Widget will be removed from the home screen. When external storage is remounted, your App Widget will not be available for the user to select until the system resets the home application (usually not until a system reboot).

Calculus Tools does... cuz its mine

Accord to google these kind of apps should not be moved to the sd card.

Services
Your running Service will be killed and will not be restarted when external storage is remounted. You can, however, register for the ACTION_EXTERNAL_APPLICATIONS_AVAILABLE broadcast Intent, which will notify your application when applications installed on external storage have become available to the system again. At which time, you can restart your Service.

Alarm Services
Your alarms registered with AlarmManager will be cancelled. You must manually re-register any alarms when external storage is remounted.

Input Method Engines
Your IME will be replaced by the default IME. When external storage is remounted, the user can open system settings to enable your IME again.

Live Wallpapers
Your running Live Wallpaper will be replaced by the default Live Wallpaper. When external storage is remounted, the user can select your Live Wallpaper again.

Live Folders
Your Live Folder will be removed from the home screen. When external storage is remounted, the user can add your Live Folder to the home screen again.

App Widgets
Your App Widget will be removed from the home screen. When external storage is remounted, your App Widget will not be available for the user to select until the system resets the home application (usually not until a system reboot).

Account Managers
Your accounts created with AccountManager will disappear until external storage is remounted.

Sync Adapters
Your AbstractThreadedSyncAdapter and all its sync functionality will not work until external storage is remounted.

Device Administrators
Your DeviceAdminReceiver and all its admin capabilities will be disabled, which can have unforeseeable consequences for the device functionality, which may persist after external storage is remounted.

When I first got the Droid I was like a kid in a candy store. I downloaded a ton of apps and now my phone is saying I am almost out of memory which has me extremely frustrated. Why Motorola would make this phone with such limited storage is beyond me. So, then I find out that in the Froyo 2.2 update we can now begin saving apps to the sd card which made me happy. Now I come to read this and it appears that it is not such happy news after all. Please forgive me for being ignorant, but what does this all mean below?

According to google these kind of apps should not be moved to the sd card.

What are running services? I am guessing things that I want to always be running in the background? Examples: Missed Call Reminder, Advanced Task Manager etc?

Alarm Services? Do you mean if you have a daily/weekly alarm app downloaded that it won't go off?

Input Method Engines? Do you mean Swype vs regular standard keyboard?

Live Wallpapers I understand this one LOL! ;)

Live Folders? What is a live folder?

Widgets. I understand this one but it won't come back until you do a system reboot?

Account Managers? What are Account Managers?

Sync Adapters? What are Sync Adapters?

Device Administrators? What is this?

My last question is will I lose Launcher Pro Home Screen which gives you the 3D app tray?

I really appreciate any help that anyone can offer.
