Root Need help with rooting NC

what is the battery indicator supposed to look like when it is charging? I cant seem to get my battery to charge, it says it is charging but it is not, now i cant even get it to turn on, has anyone else had this problem?

oh, Rick you are a genius and yes you created a monster! I have played with it all day i thought it was charging. I want that sreen you could go to on the unrooted nook that let you know if it was charging or not, now I have no clue! I know your surprised by that!

I got it to turn back on but it is still red the lightning is white and not moving, does that mean it is charging because it turned back on and if so it has taken 3 hours to get 12% charged.

I thought last night you said you had a bad charger or bad cord?

Bad cords are very common and could be your a problem

Is your charger and cord the original ones?

It'll charge much faster if you plug it in and then turn it off from the Nook.

It's also possible with a bad cord, that it only charges half as much.

I'd carefully turn it off if it seems like it's charging, and unplug when it turns green. Meanwhile it's time for a new cord. :D

well, the new chord is on the way from barnes and noble, the chord light is always green so I will leave it plugged in all evening. I turned it off and plugged it in but it turned back on. I do love thr root though it is so awesome!!!!

Yes, it will charge faster when off, because it isn't using any 'juice' to keep things going in the background.

Yeah, I was wondering if an always green cord would charge at all.
Zodin, if you've got a regular USB cord that will fit, you might be better off to charge it using that cord. It will be much slower than a stock charging cord, but it might be better than a broken stock charging cord. :)

I mentioned that in a PM. :D

Since B&N online prices are the same as store prices, I checked to see if my closest store had that cable in stock. They didn't and neither did any of the stores in Minneapolis, MN either. They should just call that an online-only item. Considering how fragile that cord is, that bothers me. (Your not the first one to have a bad cord.)

I had a defective usb connection on my DroidX last year and had to position the cable just right to get it to charge. I had the ac adapter plugged into my Kill-A-Watt so I could tell when it was charging and when not. Ended up with a couple shoes to hold everything in place until it charged, then was good until the replacement came. :D

I finally set down to gather. Took me 3.5 hours to get my SD card formated correctly and figure out that the CWM file I needed was different then the one I downloaded. The actual root process was far more simple. Now no more dual booting. I have my kindle app and I didn't lose B&N's set up.. I'm a happy camper.. :)

I was surprised how easy the manual nooter was. I used auto nooter once and manual nooter seemed to be about the same about of work.

I know I was really surprised. My SD card showed it as 119mb from a previous install of something.. I hard the worst time trying to fix the partition back to 8gb..but once I got that fixed and realized there was a CWM for root and got the right file..the rest was very easy. It was so easy I was saying, that's it? I was ready for more steps lol.

Nook color is amazing for this price point. It makes me wonder what their next offering will bring. :D

Well crap, I put off rooting for over 9 months only to have B&N update unroot me lol. *Bangs head against a wall* Back to rooting it a third time...

Well guys, I'm back, seeking expert help. Now that 1.4 is out, not only can I not get it, even doing factory reset and trying to update it manually doesn't work. It just simply, will not update. Any ideas? Doing factory reset, sets it back to 1.3. It was 1.0 when I bought it, and I've reset it at least 3 times, it just will not take 1.4 or even attempt to install it.

I need serious help if anyone has any ideas..

I finally got around to following your guide. It went off without a hitch. Thank you so much for posting it step by step and pointing me to it. You've always been so helpful. :o

Glad it worked. There's a 1.4.1 back to stock guide now too. :D
