Root New to Installing Roms - Need Help

Hey guys, first time installing roms, so I've had my lg volt rooted for some time now (used towelroot) and I'm still on VZ3 I believe. Now I've heard that to install roms you need to unlock the bootloader, and I've also heard you can use Flashify to flash TWRP which will allow you to install roms.

I've tried downloading Flashify, however it gets stuck on the installing phase inside the google play store. I've tried rebooting, taking battery out and rebooting, however, neither of these seem to work.

Any feedback to help is much appreciated!

Update: So I got flashify working, and flashed TWRP from http://androidforums.com/threads/cm12-1-unofficial-beta.905257/

After flashing, I booted into TWRP recovery, backed up my current rom to external sd. Next I wiped all partitions except /external-sd and flashed Slim-Rom. Upon booting, I get "Secure Boot Error" message. Removing battery, I get back into twrp and try again, and this time read the output log. When wiping it says

"Unable to wipe '/sdcard' -- unknown file system 'auto' "

Here is what the Secure Boot Error looks like http://imgur.com/5KpXT1l

No clue what this means. Anyone got help?

Likely not part of the problem, but there is a newer version of TWRP:

More importantly, are you installing the ROM from this forum? I don't think the radio would cause the secure boot error since it's a lollipop ROM, but if you are installing a ROM not for this phone, or not properly bumped, it would definitely cause a problem.

Also, did you install a gapps package? That could be an issue as well. There is one posted in the ROM thread, or you can get one from

It's weird that you had trouble installing Flashify...

Update: Yeah so sorry about being a little vague on which rom I was trying to install. It was Slim rom from http://androidforums.com/threads/rom-lollipop-slim-lp-for-the-lg-volt-x5.947818/
I also did flash the gapps after it, however neither of this worked.

So in the end I decided to try and install the Candy v5 rom from http://androidforums.com/threads/candy5_unofficial_v3-2.906645/ with the gapps. Turns out it worked perfectly without any problems what so ever. Kinda strange but eh I'm just glad I got one to work :p

Side note: After reading though all of the posts on slim rom post, I came across another guy who had a similar problem. The OP's solution, however, didn't work for me... Maybe I did it wrong idk.

Anyway thanks for you help guys!

This was a problem for me as well, but Ph0enix_216 hit me up with a boot.img that works
Download and unzip this boot image, move it over to your phone and flash it manually in TWRP by tapping
Install and at the bottom right there should be a button that says Image/Img or something of that nature. Just tap the boot.img and select "boot" as the partition you want to flash and then reboot. You're problem should be solved

The boot problem was also a problem for me, but @Phoenix_216 helped me out with the boot.img
Its a six megabyte boot.img

he likely did everything right but just didn't get the complete boot image to flash in the ROM
