Help problems with gmail sync

I was wondering if anyone has been having the same problem. My gmail and calender are not syncing. I have to manually do this. I have reviewed the settings on the phone and everything looks correct.

I have turned sync on and off under setttings. Seems to work for about 5 minutes then doesn't re-sync.

I wasn't sure but my desktop browser (firefox) told me it was outdated and forced me to the 'simple' version. Could that be a contributing factor?

I have the settings to work on auto and background ok.

Anyhelp is greatly appreciated.

I've been experiencing the same issue for about a month or so now.
It's rather annoying to say the least...
And it came out of nowhere. All fixes I've tried yield nothing.
I may stick with a reset version if this continues, since I've been doing a few factory resets lately to troubleshoot some unrelated data issue...
