    Hello all,
I have a purple line almost like what would be part of a border, but only on the left side of my email app.
It wasn't there before, it recently showed up. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary to make it appear.
Anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it ?
    Thanks.

Depends on the app, it may mean 'read', 'unread', or other stuff.

Like I had said, it didn't do this before, it just started. The email previews have a white background when unread, a gray background after reading.

Yes. But that doesn't matter if the app had updated, it may have added new features or UI changes. You didn't even mention what email app you use or what is your phone. The stock email app differs with every manufacturer.

No updates. I have all automatic updates disabled. Sorry, I forgot to put the model and version.
Its an LGL34C Android Version 4.4 The email app is the stock one that comes with the phone. Here's a screen shot of it.

I have a Samsung. Likely LG uses their own app.

Have you tried clearing data and cache for the stock LG email app, might be it's just something gone wonky with it. Backup your emails first, if they're important or they're not stored somewhere else.

Hi Mike. I did that a couple of weeks ago, let the e-mail come back in and right after that there was no purple bar. Then I think it was the next day, it came back. I got the phone way back last summer and the line was never there until a few weeks ago.

Nevermind, I figured it out on my own.
