Recommended apps for a droid newb

Hi Permetheus and welcome to AndroidForums :)

As you're new to Android, I would recommend you read this very helpful thread that will introduce you to Android and apps: http://androidforums.com/android-applications/36936-how-safe-find-trusted-apps-avoid-viruses-guide-those-new-android.html

There are a lot of apps out there and different people have different preferences in the same type of apps. Best thing is for you to go out and play with the apps.

This is my favourite thread to see recommendations from fellow members: http://androidforums.com/android-applications/1183-favorite-app-so-far-28.html I've linked you to the middle of the page where posts start at the beginning of this year.

If you're looking for a certain app, this 'Best App Guide' is really useful

I made this list for a friend of mine last year. Most of these apps I am still using and you might still find useful: http://www.appbrain.com/user/roze/starting-apps

Two apps that I think any Android owner must get are Dropbox and Widgetlocker. Widget lock costs you $2 but it'll be the best $2 you'll ever spend. It allows you to put widget shortcuts directly on your lock screen. Dropbox is a cloud base storage where you can sync your phone/computer with the same files. You get 2GB for free. This is my referral if you want to sign up with that, you will get an additional 250MB :)

That's all I got, hope it'll be a start to your Android addiction.

Cheers,
Roze
