Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

hrm, seems like maybe the T9 predictive dialing is not working with the older base? mayhaps we'll have to just substitute in the old dialer from 1.0

Try downloading this BlurPhone.apk onto your sdcard, then in terminal emulator:

su
install BlurPhone.apk

http://fabdroid.com/images/BlurPhone.apk

note, your browser may rename it to .zip, please rename back to .apk before attempting to install.

Let me know how this turns out, thanks!

That did it Fab. Dialer works fine now. So if we want the nice T9 dialer we are going to have to upgrade to the new leak?

yeah seems like it, though it could just be a library file missing somewhere. I'll take a closer look when I get home and also fix the rom. I've been driving the last 3 hours got 1.5 more to go.

Fab, Thanks.

Getting ready to flash this. Since I have not updated to the leak I should be able to put on the themes that are out there for 1.0 as well correct?

If you're using 1.0.2.x, you still shouldn't use the 1.0 themes. All the apps are older, 2.2 versions as opposed to 2.2.1, and the framework will not have 10% battery increments nor will it have the nice transitions.

The good news is, the updated versions for 1.2.x will work with 1.0.2.x as well!

----------------------

Also, I've fixed the dialer issue, and 1.0.2.1 is now ready for the big show! I've consolidated both of the new ROMs into my existing thread for 1.2, and we can continue discussion there! Thanks!

That's pretty awesome Fab! Thanks brother.

Is the dialer issue the contact issue? Or are they two separate issues?

Thanks!

first time installing a rom..i have a few questions. 1. when i try to add the calendar widget, it goes to the screen to select my calendars then when i hit "done", the screen jumps back to the homescreen and does not add the calendar. 2. I installed the quick contacts widget, but when i go to add an action to the contact it does not let me. Thanks for your help! i am running apex 1.0

Hi! I've fixed the calendar widget, as well as improved stability in the latest release of ApeX. I suggest installing 1.0.2.2 to see for yourself :)

Thanks Fab! I may just have to install this. I was just today wanting to install the calendar widget, but it was just flat out not working.

Cheers!

Bro-

I am recommending the 1.0.2.2 with REVOlution. I am running it. There is virtually no risk involved as it is still using the 2.3.15 ota release and therefore is nearly 100 percent recoverable. It also has nearly all of the benefits of the 1.2 released (based on the 2.3.320 rom) with the exception of the T9 (smart dial) dialer. This is no biggie as I use the Dial One app anyway.

Fab's screen transitions are nifty and the entire thing feels a bit more zippy for some reason, to me, without OC.

Don't get me wrong. I'll be going to 1.2 when it becomes a bit safer, but as a person whose job it is, here, to guide and help people, the right move for me to say would be tell folks if they want to upgrade, upgrade to this. Stay conservative for now. I would feel as if this would be the thing for me to advise with integrity.
