Root Rooting LG GT540 1.6 using Universal Androot

I want to root my LG GT540 1.6 using Universal Androot.
But i want to know if it's safe or not?

You can NOT brick your phone using Universal Androot.

Rooting programs will not brick your phone, only what you do after its rooted can, it uses an exploit in android to give you elevated permissions, I have no experiance of universan androot, or rooting 1.6, I did however root my 2.1 using z4root, which is safe, so if you upgrade to 2.1, it could be alot easier because z4root is a one click root.
