The LG G4 is still a bit fresh and we still haven’t heard about LG’s supposed second high-end device for 2015, but rumors about the LG G5 are already starting to take form. G for Games is reporting that work on the device is well underway, and we even have some early specs to ponder.
For starters, LG is said to be going with the Snapdragon 820 this go around. We’re accustomed to seeing LG go with the latest and greatest Qualcomm wares for their phones, but after they had to settle for the Snapdragon 808 following overheating issues on the Snapdragon 810 it’s nice to know they’re comfortable enough to reach for top-shelf silicon.
The company is also planning to load a 20 megapixel rear camera sensor inside. It’s said to be a “custom” Sony-made option, and if you know anything about Sony sensors you’ll know that they’re hard to match. We wouldn’t expect anything less than optical image stabilization and laser autofocus from LG, but we’ll have to wait for more details to see what, exactly, is awaiting us. The camera goods on the LG G4 were already pretty impressive, so any improvement is icing on the cake.
Of course, none of this is expected to arrive any time this year, though LG could be planning to launch the device a bit sooner than they typically drop yearly flagships with a 1st Half 2016 expectation.
