Help Samsung Admire question about MetroPCS 3g

How to know what kind of network samsung admire is connected to?
My old LG Optimus M that I lost used to tell me in the status bar when I was connected to MetroPCS 1x or 3g.. but my Samsung Admire just shows the signal strength only in the status bar, no indication of what KIND of signal it is getting. Does anyone know How can I tell if/when my Admire has 3g connectivity with a tower? Does it even have this capability? IDK

OK, try rebooting, if that doesnt work. Try going to Settings>Wireless&Networks> Mobile Networks (Scroll down the list to see it)> Is "Data Enabled" Checked? If it isnt, tap on it and make sure its checked. Should work!!

If it is checked, go back to wireless and networks and turn on airplane mode, and when the airplane shows up turn airplane mode off.

On my stock Admire, it had 1x in the status bar. To get the 3g to show I had to update the PLR, by dialing *228. 3g showed up after that

you can tell when you have 3g when 1. it says 3g next to the bars which go horizontally and when they are glowing green.

i have a samsung admire phone and my carrier is metro pcs is it free?where can i get weather for my phone?

Oh i understand whats going on now. Sometimes due to weak signal or when signal is being established it only shows the bars and not 3g/1x. It is a regular problem so dont be alarmed by it. Simply check a different area in your house. If the problem persists try standing near a metro store. It should display 4 bars of 3g

If you aren't showing any data speeds it's because you lost data for whatever reason. It happens to me often enough that I downloaded the fresh network app. Also, where I live, signal bars mean nothing. Sometimes I can have no bars (right now I have 1) and have better speeds than when I have 4 bars. I have learned since Jan, there is no rhyme or reason to this phone. Lol
