Samsung Gal S Voice Dialer Failure

Everytime I try to use the Voice Dialer app (Comes with Galaxy S), it responds with "Try again after restarting your phone". This is an important app, especially in the car. No one seems to be able to fix it. I already spoke with TM and sent the phone back to Samsung. Came back with the same issue. I have about 1800 contacts. Is there a limit on the capacity of the Voice Dialer recognition?

I know there was a problem with voice dialing on the Captivate (AT&T's Galaxy S model) especially when using bluetooth ... it didn't work. I do know that Google's voice recognition requires a good data connection.
