Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Password

After using my tablet for several months without using or wanting to use a password it seems that I've inadvertently caused my tablet to require a password to be entered before it will start running. I can't find anything on the tablet or in the online manual to resolve my problem. Can anyone please help me get rid of this requirement for a password.

The only thing I could think of id you might have to do a Factory Reset
