specs, specs, specs - and disappointments

battery: about 4,5 h SOT and takes wacky 3h to charge from zero to full, and it has no QC. (oneplus has said it takes 3h20min, Margues Brownlee said it took about 3hours from 25% to 100%)

Show is over folks, people leave disappointed.

I take no one is in a particular hurry to get an invite then?

They successfully marketed on pure hype the first time round, last year, but can't do that a second time, especially if your new single product is somewhat mediocre and lacking in features.

It has given me an idea of what Oppo's new flagship might be like, Find 9, basically OnePlus Two, but with NFC, 2k QHD screen, rapid and maybe wireless charging, and an SD slot. Oppo are really due for a new flagship soon, Find 7 has been out for well over a year now. I've got an F7 and still happy with it for the moment.

OnePlus Two could have been another "flagship killer", but I think it's been a victim of too much cost cutting and omission of flagship features, such as rapid or wireless charging and NFC.

I think OnePlus needs to figure out whether they want to build a flagship or a budget device. Trying to do both means uncomfortable compromises.

(Though if I'm being entirely honest, they should probably just stick to marketing and leave the "making stuff" to the grownups.)

See I know a number of Nexus owners from when that was inexpensive that would take exception to the idea that they didn't own a flagship ok. ;) :p

it is all about the cost, but on this time they screwed up. a phone on this day is missing way too much to be called a flagship killer.

like in usa, you need 20dollars(?) more to get the new moto x with better overal specs. there are also other phones around the same price cathegory providing more.

there is a simple one question from me: why should i replace my oneplus one by two? they are asking me to drop features away because they couldnt get the nfc chip/antenna to fit their phone and wanted to cut manufacturing price. they didnt put a new usb port either, they just used the new connector type c. so no quick charging etc either. no stereo speakers? no wireless charging?

sounds like they are trying to act like apple and asking you to settle with what they provide. Sorry, but with all those missing new features that other manufacturers provide, oneplus two can be only called as a flagshipsuicide.

I see no reason to "upgrade" to the two. Their hyperbolic statements continue to increase while the product is not increasing at the same rate. If their company continues on this trajectory, they will not be around for long.

sometimes, great vendor make a disappointment too

Yeh, sometimes great vendors do make disappointments too, difference is they can afford to usually. I doubt very much that OnePlus can, especially if the disappointment is their only product, that potential customers have to jump through hoops to buy.

Oppo had a disappointing phone quite recently, R5, launched at a glitzy, Apple like shindig in Beijing with much hype and fanfare, just like OP2, but then discontinued and end-of-lifed after just six months. Oppo has many phones in their range, OnePLus does not.

I think the answer is to think realistically about the device. It's a mid-range device at a mid-range price point. The "flagship killer" slogan is just marketing hype.

Unfortunately it's a midrange device at a midrange price, that you really have to go out of your way to buy. I think most will just buy their midrange devices locally from carriers. Marketing hype, yeh you can only pull the emperor's new clothes trick once, not twice. :D

got some invite to buy, skipped it... sorry pei, but #gtfo, im not going DOWNgrade from oneplus one.
