Speech to text Profanity filter

Does anyone know how to turn this off? I have the settings>language&input>google voice typing block offensive words unchecked, but it still blocks any cursing I do. Is there some other setting I am missing that will let me curse like the sailor I am?

There's also an option to block offensive words in settings, language and input, voice search so it may be worth unchecking that as well.

If you don't cuss, but also don't like censorship please test this on your phone and help solve this problem.

It didn't work for me. Both unchecked.

OK so a lot of you don't cuss anyway, but how about helping out those of us that are a little more colorful with our speech.

I also tried putting sh*t in my dictionary for a test but that didn't work either.

This has been asked before so if you do a search, you should be able to find out more about this. I didn't follow the thread (and I don't swear in texts anyway) so I am afraid I cannot remember what the outcome was.

I'm not sure you can add words it doesn't already include, like you can with spell check.

Does anyone know? Does VR learn new words or can you add new words?

So if a word like s*it wasn't included, I'm not sure it's a filter issue.

Is there an offline voice recognition app like dragon on the PC?

What country are you in? Google might be having to comply with government mandated profanity filters or something. Although I'm in China and Google Hong Kong recognises all the vulgar slang and rude words I can think of...in English and Mandarin...LOL.

Should be ok there I think. Are your expletives actually being recognised and asterisked out or are you getting other words that sound similar?

If I turn the safe filtered option on it still regnosises my cussing but they're asterisked out except for the first letter.

You definitely got "Block offensive words" unchecked. If so it should work. You haven't got to prove your age or something to Google have you, like you're old enough to be using them....I don't know TBH...got me beat. What happens if you voice search for gambling sites and on-line casinos or copyright infringement even porn?

Google works OK for me with them, however I find Bing blocks them and even gives a notice..."Your country or region requires a strict Bing SafeSearch setting, which will filter out adult content with relevant search results."

Running Android 4.3, I opened Google Now and spoke "Define Sh*t". It spoke back to me and gave me the definition... much to my 16 year old sons chagrin.. "Mom, seriously?" LOL

It is putting an asterix in for every letter except the first one. I just read through the posts in the topic again and am positive I have both boxes unchecked. Doesn't seem to be anything that will fix it.
Had an update to the OS roll out for me on Nov 2nd. Still doing it after that as well.

I thought mine was because I was still running firmwarre D, my phone is rooted, so I took it down and got it updated and rerouted. Still didn't work

All my contacts for phone, if you search this forum it show you how I turn them all to Google. After that I had sync. Wasn't even thinking about the block offensive words. I'm not sure if It had anything to do with it. But after I updated, and sync all my contacts and everything Google, maybe it finally uncheck the box on the server, I just noticed this weekend started working, I know I didn't get the new os update you're talking about, because I keep that frozen. It just started working again, so it's gotta have something to do with the Google servers. Shit **** See

sorry, i just learned my fiddling with my phone had no bearing on the solution. I learned my wifes phone also started not blocking cuss words. she did nothing but left the checkboxes un checked.

So it must have been something server side on google.
