    people buying and selling these domains are dumb, it really isnt worth what you are paying (unless it is under say $20) unless you have gobs of money to throw at it to advertise it.

    a new website has like a 1 in 100 shot of making anything of itself, a decent (i say decent cause these domains are just that, decent) domain name is not a magic bullet.

    exactly, there are lots of websites out there and they dont need to have a domain name that is relevant, its the marketing and what it offers that gives it long lasting. was it really worth over $300?

    I don't understand why someone would buy a domain name like that. Do they expect to do something with it?
