Update HTC inspire

I have HTC inspire from AT&T running on Straighttalk. How can I update the phone? When I tap the Software Update option under settings it says server unavailable. I am assuming this is because I do not have AT&T service. Is there a way to run updates on the phone without having AT&T as the carrier? Thanks!
