If you are in a zone with terrible coverage (ie I never get less than -98 dBms where I live), your battery will drop like crazy versus being in a good signal (-65-80 dBms). When I was still living at college, I was always in the good signal range and was consistently getting 30-36 hours to a battery charge no matter which OS I was on, but now that I'm home for the summer and in the terrible signal zone, I get maybe 16-24 and that's on a good day.
