My GF brought a galaxy S GT-I9000 from ebay used, It arrived yesterday when switching it on there were a number of pop up "sorry" messages relating to applications that couldnt run. We restored factory settings In Settings>Privacy
phone restarted and expected to see all previous owners apps removed however it didnt. (once we had passed setup screens). We then manually deleted all the Apps in the settings>manage applications screen. rebooted the phone and after it rebooted the apps were all there again.
We then installed the Kies software and performed a Update to gingerbread firmware and hoped this would rectify the problems to no luck.
Connecting the phone to the pc allows you to view internal memory files and you can even format the drive but no sooner as you remove the usb lead the phone remounts the drive and (from somewhere puts them all back on again - including the apps photos taken by previous owner and music files)
We then found the switch on with VOL UP + HOME + POWER function and deleted cash and master reset it a number of times to no avail.
Last night i even Rooted the phone with
cf-root-xx_xeu_jpy-v1.3-busybox-1.17.1.tar
This displayed the S screen and constantly buzzed the vibrator and nothing else.
So then installed (with Odin 1.3)
CSC_OXAJVK.tar.md5
PDA_XXJVK_Sbl.tar.md5
PHONE_XXJVK.tar.md5
s1_odin_20100512.pit
In a last ditched attempt and resolving the issues! The phone now boots to the setup language screen and bombards us with loads of "sorry" messages finally you complete the setup screens and it displays message "Sorry The Application Setup Wizzard (process com.android.setupwizzard) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"
Its like the phone is restoring Internal memory files from elsewhere in the phone and screwing everything up....
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
