I sent a question to Otterbox earlier....

I received this response not too long after.

Other's are interested as well. I think if enough people requested it, we'd see development of a case pushed up quickly.

If you're interested in a case for the EVO, please contact otterbox:

These people seem to be customer driven and and everyone making an effort would help.

Here is a picture of the HD2 case. I'd assume they'd produce something similiar:

I have a friend who works at Otter Box in Ft. Collins. I have spoken with her and she said that they are waiting to see how well the EVO sells before making a decision on producing a case or not.

    Thanks for the tip.

I figure it won't hurt for people to voice their opinions about this case to show an interest.

Got an Otterbox for the GF's Moto Droid. Wish the back wasn't so smooth.. I want some grip.

Six figure pre-sales. You think they'd be able to make a business decision based on that especially since I think it's killing the HD2 and it hasn't even been sold yet.

how can they even doubt the success of the EVO? -_-

nice looking case on the HD2 but that HUGE logo of theirs isn't helping. Looks like it has three diffrent materials used, metal in the middle and two types of plastics on the top and bottom. Are they suppoesd to be super rugged?

the biggest phone on sprint, and perhaps the most awaited phone of 2010 (for non iphone fanboys anyways), i'll bet all the money in the world that theyre gonna make one. just a matter of when. took them that long to make one for the hd2, so maybe wait a couple of months?

from what i heard, they are pretty rugged and offer the best case protection.

Otterbox is waiting? Not very smart business. The right move would have been to be the first on the block to have your stuff available.
  10. WoW I agree. How stupid is Otterbox? Can you imagine how many they could have sold if they made a deal with Best Buy and Radio Shack alone to have them at launch? Where is Donald Trump? Someone at Otterbox needs to hear the words YOUR FIRED! ;)

    It's beyond me honestly.

They have neither an EVO, HD2 OR iPhone 4G case ready now. Confusing since the EVO and iphone 4G are going to sell like hotcakes.

    What are they thinking?

Great way to lose market share. I'nm not sure if I want to buy a case just to wait for an otterbox.

I'm just hoping to grab their attention.....

The corners are exposed though? If you drop it, it's landing on a corner, every time.

Corners aren't exposed. Looks like heavy rubber / plastic.

I sent Otterbox an email (I love Otterbox as well), and after about a week the reply I received was very similar to yours, except it said something like, "There are no plans at the moment, however there has been an extreme interest, keep a watch on our website for future updates."

Seems like its not just me and OP that emailed them...

They'll make a case, but it's gonna be awhile, methinks...

Are you sure about that? I haven't been able to find an image of just the case for the HD2, but other cases with a similar style have the corners exposed:

    iphone case by itself

and the phone with the case on

Defender cases I believe are fully covered... but commuter? Doesnt look like it

Edit: Nevermind, the case comes as part of two pieces

I sent a request into Otterbox this past weekend and received the same canned response you got as well today. I responded back with my feeling that the sale of Evo should be huge and they should get moving on getting a Commuter case out the door for the Evo quickly instead of making us wait months.

Thanks for the mods for moving this to the accessories page. I forget it existed!

Thanks to everyone who has emailed them.

    I appreciate it.

I emailed Otterbox a week or so ago and received the same exact response back. Hopefully this is just a standard reply for phones that they are not currently selling cases for.

I can probably hold out a couple weeks after launch but past that I will probably, reluctantly, bring my business elsewhere.
