wanting to delete device password request

hi there
a few days ago, I got a message on my phone
couldn't read it easily since I was in the sun

however the result is that now whenever I turn the screen on, it prompts me for a device password.

Does anyone know how to delete this request?

I have a Motorola Milestone bought in Canada

try settings > location and security > security lock to off.
