not without the internet. You can certainly convert your own dvd's or tv shows you have on your computer. But Live TV without the internet, no.

I think he means that without using browser just launch the app and watch tv by connecting to WI-FI or 3G.

No. He asked if you can watch live tv without the internet. 3g or wifi would be the internet....

I go hunting in the country every year only there for about a week or so. do not want a years contract with the cable compy. but if i can watch tv over the internet with my android galaxy s this would be great, especially if it can be connected to my reqular tv for full size entertainment.

If you have a phone with Flash, you could go to crackle.com and watch movies and shows for free. Either on 3g or wifi, you're just using your browser. I use it all the time.

And again, using wifi or 3g is "using the internet". The OP asked if there was any way to do it WITHOUT using the internet, and I have already answered this question.

Don't suppose there actually are any Android devices with build-in tv-reception?

Not sure what flash is, but a little explination would help me.
My phone is samsung android galaxy S t959

assuming I got flash and my phone is tethered to my laptop which allows me to go online 3g, so if I go to crackle.com will I be able to watch tv on the lap top? If yes is the answer. Can I then plug my lap top into my flatscreen 40" flat screen monitor and watch tv on it thru the lap top?

    just thinking

You can do it that way.
If you have Android 2.2 you have flash and you can use something like TV Flash to watch TV. I think the South Korean version of the Galaxy S has a built in TV tuner.

Do you have 2.2 installed? If so, then you already have flash.

You mean Orange San Francisco (aka ZTE Blade) right ?? If so then there is no official 2.2 release, hence no flash.

If you have TV at home, you can watch TV on your phone over 3G, but it may be a bit pricey. I do it all the time.

    1. Purchase a Slingbox (Slingbox Solo starts at $219.99 at Best Buy, but can be found used on Craigslist or Ebay). Connect your cable to the Slingbox, connect your Slingbox to your router (must have DSL or Cable internet).

    2. Purchase Slingbox app in the app store ($29.99).

This will allow you to control and watch your home cable tv on your phone over 3G.

I know it's not a "free" type option, but it's there...

    So Cal
Sprint TV (Free) sucks. The sprint tv subscription might be ok. but it's 9.99/month.

agreed...not sure why this is a difficult concept...lol
ANYTHING you stream over your phone will be coming from the web...(unless maybe your phone has an fm tuner) so it will be data.

the slingbox thing is a great option but not only is the initial cost a little much, the app streams your recodings over DATA connection.
