Help WiFi connectivity issues after Nougat Upgrade

After a recent Nougat upgrade I am now having issues with the message Internet may not be available when connecting to my home wifi network.

I have multiple other android devices that are connecting fine. I have a Linksys WRT1200AC router that has been working fine previously. Has anyone else seen or experienced this issue? Is there anything that can be to fix this? I can sometimes get it to work by forgetting the network and reconnecting to it. Or by resting the router but since it is only the one phone that is having issues and the only one using Nougat version I have to think it is more the phone then the router.

Found a post from a few years ago that said to change the network settings on the phone to be static and update DNS names which worked.  Just seems odd would need to do that.  Was hoping someone knee why it did it and if there was any better solution to it.
