Considering the Milestone got 2.1 before the Droid did (officially, anyway ), it seems pretty likely you'll get future releases for at least a few more iterations of Android OS.
Seriously, 9? While I wish stock was more than 3, nine is just overkill. I use homescreens so I don't have to dig through the app tray for things I use regularly/semi-regularly. I think app tray would be less of a hassle than using 9 screens.
Personally I'm not that excited over it. What's going to be different other than Flash ten dot one. I really rather not have my phone auto update apps. And I heard the FM radio won't work on the Droid hardware. That would be the only thing I'd care about, so I can tune in to the news stations on the TV's at the gym.
I think they jacked with the bootloader or something or other that's blocking them access to the proper areas to fully root. But I also don't know what I'm talking about.
The android 2.2 sdk hasn't even officially been released yet has it? I don't see available on the SDK site. I would put the probably of getting anything in june at almost 0. Verizon took forever (in smart phone time) to get 2.1 out.
Most verizon phones are lucky to ever get 1 update in their lifetime...If Flash 10.1 really is dependent on 2.2, that would be only reason I'd think we'd be sure to get 2.2.
Root users will get it one way or another for sure.
Rooted users will be able to get Froyo around the time of Google I/O when google releases the new AOSP. Stock users could be waiting awhile just like 2.1
You many not care about function changes in FROYO, or even that it has Flash....
What I want is the performance gain. Engadget shows a stock Milestone get 6+ MFLOPS on 2.1, it is geting 40+ MFLOPS on 2.2.
That's an incredible increase ..... like getting a brand new phone for free...
This means Droids and Milestones purchased as much as a year ago could still out perform the iPhone 4, and there will be a generational split in the games on the market as post and pre 2.2 gaming abiltiy.
i agree!
i am looking forward to the insane performance gain, flash and the increased browser speed. I have a stock milestone 2.1 and its not as responsive as i hoped it would be...
